Memphis…..Well Known for Bar B Q

Memphis is very well known nationwide for the taste of Bar B Q pork ribs and Bar B Q pork shoulder. Each year for as long as I can remember, the International Bar B Q competition is held at Tom Lee Park on the Bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River. This competition is held during our Memphis in May festival and the event takes up to a week…..from setup time to judging to trophy presentations. Teams come from all over the United States, Canada, and as far away as Australia to compete. It is a huge event that has spawned from our great Bar B Q preparations in our Memphis restaurants. There are no less than 40 specialty Bar B Q restaurants in and around Memphis…some of them are world renown such as the Rendezvous and Corkey’s as well as Neely’s. There are quite a few smaller shops that have great sandwiches and we all have our favorites….like Three Little Pigs or Showboat. There is nothing better than Memphis Bar B Q. Ask anyone who has lived here and now lives elsewhere..they will tell you that nothing compares with the smokey..sometimes sweet…sometimes dry…sometimes wet…taste of Memphis Bar B Q.
